AGOPPE

Gather Information:  Brainstorm possible sources, identify key words or phrases, evaluate effectiveness of the sources, skim to find relevant information, read selected passages relevant to the question, record notes, record bibliographic information.
 

Analyze, interpret and evaluate notes, organize notes as they relate to the identified questions, create a graphic organizer to display relevant information, identify whether or not additional information is needed, return to step G if necessary.

Identify the format expectations for the product to be presented, create a rough draft, revise and edit for content, create a proof draft, revise and edit for mechanics, publish according to rubric expectations.

Montgomery County Public Schools Utilizes AGOPPE model for conducting and writing research.

Ask Questions:  Identify the problem, brainstorm about the topic, access and assess relevant background knowledge, identify broader questions related to the problem, identify smaller questions needed to clarify the big problem.

Present the product to the appropriate audience, rubric created for this product is used to assess content, format, mechanics and/or style.

Evaluate your final product/presentation based on rubrics, write/reflect on the research process.
